About South Shore Biotherapy
Located on the South Shore of Boston, but serving individuals throughout Massachusetts (particularly South Shore, Metro South, South Coast, and Cape Cod regions), South Shore Biotherapy began offering life-saving and life-altering ketamine infusion treatments in 2022 to patients seeking effective alternative therapy for depression and other mental health challenges and mood disorders.
Who Benefits from our Ketamine Therapy Program?
Many of our clients come to us because they have found their depression, suicidal thoughts, or other mood disorders and associated mental health symptoms to be “treatment-resistant.” That means past or current more traditional (commonly used) treatments or combinations of treatments, such as antidepressants or cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), were not effective at improving their symptoms to any significant degree.
In addition, while some clients experience some relief from antidepressants or other psychological medication, they still aren’t getting the level of help they want and need from their prescribed medications to achieve the life they believe is possible for them, and that they deserve. They are seeking alternatives to antidepressants and medications, such as Lexapro alternatives, SSRI alternatives, Wellbutrin alternatives, Zoloft alternatives, Prozac alternatives, and sertraline alternatives.
Ketamine infusion therapy effectively alleviates symptoms of depression and thoughts of suicide in approximately 85% of the patient population. In comparison, research shared by The National Library of Medicine indicates that while approximately 40 - 60 of 100 people who took antidepressants noticed an improvement in their symptoms within 6-8 weeks, among a control group of 100 people who took a placebo, approximately 20 - 40 noticed an improvement within 6 – 8 weeks – ultimately demonstrating that there wasn’t a significant difference in the percentage of people who noticed an improvement in symptoms between the group that took antidepressants and the group that took placebos.
In some cases, ketamine infusion treatment can reduce or completely halt suicidal ideation within minutes of treatment. Our ketamine treatment program literally saves lives.
While ketamine treatment is often referred to as an “alternative treatment for depression,” it has also been shown to improve the life quality of individuals struggling with a variety of mental health challenges, including anxiety, bipolar disorder, mood disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), post-partum depression, seasonal affective disorder (SAD) and more! In addition, recent research shared by “The Elite Nurse Practitioner” suggests that ketamine infusion therapy could be an effective first-line treatment – meaning it could warrant being the first course of depression treatment that is considered and applied, versus taking a backseat to antidepressant medications.
Our Ketamine Treatment Program's History and Leadership
One of the many factors that make our ketamine treatment program unique from other providers of ketamine infusion therapy is that our leadership team has first-hand experience with how ketamine can positively impact mental well-being. Having struggled greatly with depression himself before discovering how ketamine infusion therapy can greatly reduce or eliminate depression, our CEO, Adam Baiardi was eager to make this treatment more widely available in New England to other individuals who were struggling with various mental health issues or mood disorders.
Adam also brings an impressive track record of championing innovation and service and process improvement from previous roles at physical therapy organizations where he recommended and effected positive change to support better outcomes; plus, an education in science and physical therapy. His role as the organization’s senior-most leader allows him to continue work that is in keeping with his past passion -- helping individuals struggling with debilitating illness recover and live the highest quality of life possible.
Our Vision and Why We're Different from other Ketamine Therapy Providers
In addition to our CEO’s first-hand experience with the benefits of ketamine treatment for depression and unparalleled passion for helping those who are struggling with physical or mental health challenges live their best possible life, a differentiator that supports our vision to become the unmatched provider of ketamine infusion therapy on Boston’s South Shore (Southeastern MA) is the fact that we ONLY offer ketamine infusion therapy vs. other treatment programs for mental health struggles. That means our team is focused on making your or your loved one’s experience with ketamine infusion therapy the best possible one. Our team is able to stay up-to-date on any advancements in the field of ketamine treatment and execute any research-proven techniques.
Our experience has shown that the best health outcomes are achieved when both the healthcare provider and the patient play an active role in their treatment. We strive to serve as both cheerleaders and advisors to our patients while making sure they feel they have a voice in their treatment, and that that voice is heard by us. Ultimately, we work hard to establish relationships with our patients that feel collaborative with both parties.
South Shore Biotherapy is the premier provider of ketamine infusion therapy in Southeastern MA (Barnstable, Bristol, Norfolk, and Plymouth counties).
